Powell's School Church of England (VA) Primary School

  Headteacher’s Welcome

I have great pleasure in welcoming you to Powell's Church of England VA Primary School.  We are a school with a rich history and an exciting future.  Through these pages, I hope that you will understand why we believe that our school is such a special place for young people to learn and develop.  We are totally committed to ensuring that learning is exceptional for everyone within our community.  This is based upon the care that we all feel towards each other, rooted in our Christian faith.

We provide as many opportunities for children as we can.  Through a rich, varied and vibrant curriculum, children are able to flourish in areas that they already enjoy as well as encountering new experiences to spark their inquisitive minds.  We ensure that every day is a learning adventure, for children to explore both within the school curriculum and through a raft of extra-curricular clubs.

At Powell's our drive is to equip children with the knowledge, skills and understanding that they will need to thrive both now and in the future.  This means that we have the highest expectations for everyone. All children are expected to reach their potential and we believe that this is achieved through them being developed as independent lifelong learners who have fun whilst learning.  Equally, the care and respect that they show for themselves, and others, is of prime importance.

Whilst these pages may give you some insight into what happens at Powell's, you only get a true sense of our community by seeing it first hand.  We are immensely proud of our special community and we would welcome the opportunity to show you our school.

" The highly imaginative and stimulating way that subjects and topics are taught successfully meets the interests and needs of all pupils. The school not only stretches all pupils academically, but also across a wide range of exciting activities such as mock-trial competitions and performing arts".
